About Sovereign Taekwondo

Sovereign Taekwondo is an independent organisation founded in 2020, supporting Taekwondo clubs, schools, instructors and students.
Our purpose is to provide recognised gradings, instructor development and a professional community whilst respecting the independence of every affiliated club. Clubs are welcome to teach their own syllabus or, if preferred, adopt the Sovereign syllabus.
We believe clubs should have the freedom to teach their own syllabus, develop their own students and build their own identity whilst benefiting from the support of a professional community.

Working Within a Recognised Framework
Sovereign Taekwondo works within a recognised framework alongside the Taekwondo Council UK (TCUK) and the International Taekwondo Council (ITC).

Taekwondo Council UK (TCUK)
The Taekwondo Council UK is the National Governing Body (NGB), providing leadership in governance, safeguarding, equality, professionalism and good practice. TCUK supports its members through robust governance standards, policies and procedures, while respecting the technical independence of its member organisations.
International Taekwondo Council (ITC)
The International Taekwondo Council is the international guiding body, promoting cooperation, recognition and the development of Taekwondo through its worldwide network of member organisations.
Sovereign Taekwondo
Sovereign Taekwondo works alongside the Taekwondo Council UK (TCUK) and the International Taekwondo Council (ITC), forming part of a recognised framework that supports clubs at national and international level.
Together, these organisations provide a balanced framework where:
